Prof. D.S. Chauhan

Professor Durg Singh Chauhan was born in Rajasthan in 1949. He has been in the Electrical Engineering at Institute of Technology, BHU since 1979. He was Director, KNIT Sultanpur in 1999-2000 and Founder Vice Chancellor, Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow, for two tenures (year 2000 – 2006). This University was established for technical institutions of UP state in which more than 225 institutions are affiliated. He has supervised 11 Ph. D.’s, one D.Sc and authored a book. He has published and presented more than 67 research papers in International and National Journals and Conferences. He has been Member of NBA-AICTE, NABL-DST, and National Expert Committee, MHRD. Currently he is Member, University Grants Commission for year 2006 to 2009.

Prof. Chauhan is Member of many academic bodies and Fellow of Institution of Engineers, India. He has received Eminent Engineers Honor in 2001 of Institution of Engineers, India. He visited many countries of Europe and other Continents. He has been a missionary of technical education. Action orientation has been his life mantra. His grand personality and life style is a singular mixture of a scholar and Rishi tradition i.e a technocrat with cultural reflection. Under his charismatic leadership , U.P. Technical University, Lucknow has grown to a national and international stature in very short period of six years.

During past Seven years, Dr. Chauhan has been Chairman for 20 NBA Teams, Chairman and Member, Search Committees for Vice Chancellor panel selection of many universities of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Organized many international conferences and chaired many sessions in national and international conferences. He brought up new dimension to post-graduate and research activities in the U.P. Technical University. He visited number of times each and every institution of U.P. Technical University and made a vibrant family. He joined Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab in 2007 as Vice Chancellor for period of 10 months. Now he is again on mission to set up many milestones in Jaypee University of Information Technology, Solan in capacity of an acting Vice Chancellor, which is residential university of its own kind, where all technical and professional courses related to CS & IT, ECE, Civil, Biotech & Bioinformatics are pursued for U.G., P.G. and Ph.D. degrees.
